Devils Fork fencing is an ever-popular solution to residential, commercial, and industrial perimeter security needs. It offers both visual and physical deterrence and unlike other fencing solutions, it maintains an amicable suburban facade. Steel palisades are unparalleled in strength and therefore incredibly durable as well as being galvanised ensureing it remains rust resistant.

When securing the perimeter of a large industrial complex, palisade fencing proves its worth time and time again.

Devils Fork Installation Guide

For keeping assets within a site, or discouraging trespassers from accessing high risk areas, there’s no better solution.

Here’s what to expect when installing your devils fork:

Step 1: Setting the Devils Fork Posts

  • Measure out the perimeter to be fenced off and work out where the posts are going to the placed. This distance depends on the length of the horizontal rails you’ll be using.
  • Lay each post down where it will be installed.
  • Dig a hole for each fence post. This needs to be deep and wide enough to support your post using concrete, so make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Mix the concrete that will support the posts.
  • Place 2-4 inches of gravel at the bottom of each post hole and compact it. This will give each post a solid foundation to rest on and will also provide good drainage for the concrete base.
  • Place the posts into the holes one at a time and pour in the concrete.
  • Use a spirit level to guarantee the post is perfectly vertical.
  • If required, use wood, wire and rope to secure the posts in place. Leave the concrete to set for at least a day before continuing with installation.

Step 2: Installing the Horizontal Rails and Pales

  • Place two horizontal railings between each fence post and lay out the correct number of pales (vertical railings) for each section of fence.
  • Use a drill to fix the horizontal rails in place and use bolts as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Line up the pales one by one and affix them to the horizontal rails. If your horizontal rails lack bolt holes, use the manufacturer’s instructions to determine the measurements between each pale.
  • Repeat this process for each pale until you have all pales fixed in place.
  • Fix a support footer to the centre pale of each section of fence, either to the lower horizontal rail or to the centre pale itself. This will strengthen the weakest part of the fence by supporting the load evenly. It will also improve the impact resistance of each section of fencing.
