Surface Preparation:

It is important that sub-floors be firm, non-yielding, smooth, even, clean, dry and free from foreign material. On contact floors i.e. floors on ground, check for rising damp by placing squares of roofing felt or plastic sheet (approximately 1 metre x 1 metre) at various points and leave overnight. If dry, no moisture will be present on underside of membrane when lifted the following morning. Since woodblock preservatives may contain bitumen solvents, ensure blocks are solvent-free.

Application:

Spread adhesive evenly, using a notched steel trowel (e.g. Vickers 24B), to ensure that the correct coverage is achieved. Do not allow adhesive to set before laying the blocks. Blocks must be laid immediately into the wet adhesive. For individual blocks, it is convenient to dip the blocks. Pour about 6mm of adhesive into a shallow dish. Dip the block and wipe off excess on the edge of the dish and then place the block immediately. Do not sand wood block flooring for approximately 48 hours after completion.
